Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief C. Joseph Vijay met Governor-in-charge Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to claim the government formation in Tamil Nadu with the support of 120 MLAs, surpassing the majority mark of 118 in the 234-member Assembly. Vijay requested a Sunday swearing-in ceremony at 3 p.m. if approved by the Governor.
The alliance, including Congress, CPI, CPI-M, VCK, and IUML, supporting TVK, submitted letters of support to the Governor, solidifying Vijay’s bid for the government. With the backing of 120 MLAs, TVK is set to lead the state government.
TVK emerged as the largest party with 108 seats in the recent elections, later securing additional support to comfortably cross the halfway mark needed for government formation.
