Author-entrepreneur Twinkle Khanna, wife of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, shared her views on the ongoing Maharashtra local polls, expressing that voting gives a sense of control and power over the narrative. She emphasized the importance of voting, stating that it is a combination of habit and hope. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar also participated in the elections, urging everyone to exercise their right to vote.
Voting is currently taking place in Maharashtra for elections to 29 municipal corporations, including the prominent Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The process began early in the morning and will continue until late afternoon. Akshay Kumar highlighted the significance of voting, urging citizens to select the right candidates to address issues like water supply, electricity, roads, and waste management. He emphasized that voting is crucial for the city’s progress.
The municipal corporation elections cover various cities in Maharashtra, such as Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nagpur, and others. A total of 3.48 crore voters will determine the fate of 15,931 candidates, with the counting of votes scheduled for January 16. Notably, 68 candidates have been elected unopposed, leading to no voting for those seats. The elections aim to address civic issues and bring about positive changes in the region.
