At least two individuals lost their lives, and about 20 others, including children, were hurt when a tractor-trolley carrying migrant laborers overturned in Vidisha district, Madhya Pradesh. The overloaded vehicle, transporting around 22 people, mostly migrant workers and their young kids, met with the accident on Bina Road. The mishap occurred as the group was en route to harvest moong crop in agricultural fields.
The tractor-trolley lost balance suddenly, causing it to overturn, throwing passengers onto the road, leading to chaos and distress. Local residents and passersby promptly responded to the scene, aiding in rescue operations. Kurwai Station In-charge RK Mishra and his team arrived swiftly to coordinate the rescue efforts upon receiving the alert.
All the injured were promptly taken to the Kurwai Community Health Center for medical attention. Unfortunately, 55-year-old farmer Rishabh Sahu and 65-year-old laborer Darbri Kaul succumbed to their injuries upon arrival. Among the injured, Divya Kol, 20, and Rajni Kol, 35, sustained severe injuries and were referred to the District Hospital after initial treatment.
The remaining 18 injured individuals, including children, are currently receiving treatment at the Kurwai Community Health Center, with doctors closely monitoring their progress. Police and health officials maintained vigilance for several hours post-accident, with preliminary investigations pointing to overloading and excessive speed as the main causes. The vehicle involved has been impounded, and evidence has been gathered from the scene.
Station In-charge RK Mishra confirmed the completion of all legal procedures and mentioned an ongoing detailed investigation from all possible angles. The district administration has notified the families of the injured parties.
