Two juvenile inmates managed to escape from the Kota Juvenile Detention Centre in Rajasthan after deceiving a guard by requesting to make tea. The incident took place at around 7:30 a.m. in Nayagaon. The minors exploited the opportunity and misled the guard, fleeing the premises.
The escape was discovered shortly afterward, leaving the guard distressed. One of the escaped juveniles is 16 years old, while the other is 17. Both were held at the detention center for separate criminal cases. Following the escape, the RK Puram police station personnel arrived, filed a case, and initiated a search operation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma mentioned that special police teams have been set up to locate the runaway juveniles. The 16-year-old was detained for a knife-point robbery case at Udyog Nagar police station, while the 17-year-old was held for a child kidnapping case at Gumanpura police station. Authorities are actively conducting search operations and investigating to identify any lapses that facilitated the escape.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the juveniles swiftly, with intensified searches expected. Escapes from detention centers present a challenge for authorities, highlighting deficiencies in supervision and security measures. Such incidents strain policing resources, trigger extensive searches, and raise concerns about public safety and the accountability of custodial institutions.
