Two men have been arrested in separate operations in Delhi for possessing illegal firearms, as confirmed by the Delhi Police. The arrests led to the recovery of two country-made pistols and two live cartridges. The police have registered two cases under Section 25 of the Arms Act in connection with these incidents.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendra Prasad Meena, the arrests were part of the police’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal possession of firearms and ensure public safety. The arrests were made following increased patrolling and surveillance by the beat staff of Police Station Seemapuri at vulnerable locations.
In the first case, Head Constables Ajeet and Rinku apprehended a man near Kabristan Road, MCD Park, New Seemapuri, after finding a country-made pistol and a live cartridge in his possession. The accused, identified as Sohil (19), was charged under the Arms Act, and further investigation is underway. In a separate incident on the same day, another man, identified as Rishikant (22), was arrested near the Railway Line at A-Block, Jhilmil Industrial Area, with a similar recovery of illegal firearms.
The police highlighted the importance of their prompt actions in preventing the potential misuse of these illegal weapons and enhancing public safety in the area. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the source of the firearms and any potential links to other criminal activities.
