Two terrorists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Basantgarh area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The operation began after the terrorists were seen firing from a cave late Tuesday evening. Drones were used to locate the terrorists near a cave in the Ramnagar area, leading to a tightened cordon to apprehend them.
The joint security forces responded cautiously to the terrorists’ firing, ensuring the area was cordoned off to prevent their escape in the dense forest. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) were instrumental in confirming the terrorists’ presence inside the cave, aiding the forces in adjusting their strategy. Nearby residents were advised to stay indoors as a safety measure until the operation concludes.
The presence of terrorists in hilly regions of Udhampur and other districts has raised concerns for security forces. In a recent security meeting in New Delhi, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, directives were issued to eliminate these terrorists, suspected to be of Pakistani origin, and to maintain strict border control. Amit Shah is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir for three days starting February 5, including a visit to the international border and another security review meeting in Jammu city.
