Two active-duty US Army soldiers supporting ‘Operation Inherent Resolve’ were killed in an enemy attack on an airbase in Jordan, as confirmed by the Department of War. First Lieutenant Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Private Isabella Gonzales, 19, from Carrollton, Texas, lost their lives in the assault at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base on July 17. Feehan was killed on July 18, following the attack.

The Department of War did not reveal the identity of the attackers or the method of the assault. Additionally, no details were provided regarding other casualties or the extent of damage caused at the base. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, according to the department’s statement.

Lieutenant Feehan was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defence Artillery Regiment, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Private Gonzales was part of the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defence Artillery Regiment, which operates under the 52nd Air Defence Artillery Brigade in Ansbach, Germany. Both soldiers served in air defence units responsible for safeguarding troops, installations, and assets against aerial threats.

The soldiers’ deployment duration at the Jordanian base and their specific duties there were not disclosed by the Department of War. This announcement marks the official identification of the soldiers who lost their lives in the attack, with no further details released about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a Jordanian military facility, has been utilized by US and allied forces for regional operations. Jordan, a longstanding security partner of the US and a member of the international coalition combatting the Islamic State group, has been actively involved in these operations.
