UAE’s Alishan Sharafu expressed confidence in the team’s batting performance at the World Cup, despite a loss to New Zealand. Sharafu, along with Muhammad Waseem, led UAE to a total of 173 runs against New Zealand, who won by ten wickets in Chennai. UAE aims to secure a victory against Canada in their upcoming match to improve their standing in Group D.

Sharafu mentioned that the team was satisfied with their batting display in the first innings against New Zealand. However, he acknowledged the need for adjustments in their bowling strategy to achieve better outcomes. He emphasized the importance of fine-tuning their bowling tactics for the match against Canada.

Highlighting his partnership with captain Muhammad Waseem, Sharafu credited their understanding on the field as a crucial element in UAE’s batting strategy. He emphasized the significance of maintaining a positive approach during the powerplay and batting effectively till the end of the innings. Sharafu praised Waseem for his pivotal role in anchoring the innings against New Zealand.

Sharafu credited his experience in the International League T20 for enhancing his skills against top bowlers. He noted that facing familiar bowlers reduced nerves and boosted confidence during the World Cup. Sharafu highlighted the advantage of carrying over lessons from previous tournaments to improve performance in high-stakes competitions like the World Cup.

Looking ahead, Sharafu emphasized the importance of a simple and enjoyable approach to his batting. He expressed a preference for seizing opportunities early in the powerplay and capitalizing on scoring chances later in the innings. Sharafu’s focus remains on maintaining a straightforward mindset and deriving pleasure from his batting performances during matches.
