Mumbai, July 29 (IANS) Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at a book release event, Thackeray targeted the central government over the Delimitation Bill and accused it of trying to alter the Constitution.

Addressing the gathering, Thackeray alleged that political parties and MPs were being split deliberately to pass the Delimitation Bill.

“To change the Constitution, political parties are being engineered to split,” he asserted.

Directing a sharp critique at the BJP’s political tactics, Thackeray said they used political parties and discarded them once their work was done.

He added, “You have even used Lord Ram and cast him aside. Don’t you feel ashamed looting the temple of the very Lord Ram whose name brought you to power?”

Responding to accusations of abandoning Hindutva, he said that when real issues were raised, the BJP claimed Shiv Sena (UBT) had abandoned Hindutva.

“But what have they given up? The real question is what were they holding onto in the first place? They had already abandoned dignity, shame, and morality-so what difference does it make now?”

Addressing the ongoing debate on dynasty politics, Thackeray openly embraced his family legacy while questioning PM Modi’s background.

“They keep talking about dynastic politics. Yes, my family has a heritage, and I am proud of it. Our family history is documented on record for at least a hundred years. What about their lineage? Where did they come from? Which station did they actually sell tea at? There is no record, and even less accountability,” he noted.

Referring to PM Modi’s past statements, Thackeray remarked that the Prime Minister had said, “What do I have to lose? I will just pack my bag and walk away.”

Thackeray countered, “But what happens to the country? That is why I say that listening to flattery and the Thackeray family are two opposite things. We do not accept hypocrisy. We are people who kick injustice and deception aside to move forward. Our family stands shoulder to shoulder with the truth, and that is what Shiv Sena truly is.”
