Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray expressed surprise at joining forces with late former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, given their political differences. Thackeray praised Pawar’s administrative skills and described him as a crucial support pillar during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Thackeray highlighted the unexpected collaboration between their parties and acknowledged Pawar’s significant role.

Thackeray shared his initial reservations about working with Pawar, emphasizing his lack of administrative experience. However, he later appreciated Pawar’s expertise and friendship, referring to him as a valuable colleague. Thackeray commended Pawar’s ability to delve deeply into various subjects and his supportive role in government affairs.

Reflecting on Pawar’s political journey, Thackeray noted his transition from being under a “massive tree’s shadow” to establishing his unique identity. Thackeray recounted visits to Baramati with Pawar, where he witnessed the region’s impressive development under Pawar’s leadership. Thackeray lamented Pawar’s passing, describing the impact on Baramati and Maharashtra.

Thackeray highlighted Pawar’s pivotal role in sustaining Maharashtra’s economy during the lockdown, ensuring the continuity of government schemes. He praised Pawar’s resilience in facing numerous allegations and emphasized the need for restraint in tarnishing individuals’ reputations. Thackeray acknowledged Pawar’s assertive yet principled approach in governance and his disciplined work ethic.
