The Ugandan woman admitted to an isolation ward at RUHS Hospital in Jaipur with suspected Ebola-like symptoms has been confirmed negative for the virus. Health officials received the test report from the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, stating that she is not infected with Ebola.
She arrived in Jaipur on an Air Arabia flight from Uganda via Sharjah, landing at Jaipur Airport at around 4.30 a.m. Her symptoms during routine health screening at the airport raised concerns among medical officials, leading to immediate precautionary measures.
Following the screening, health authorities transferred her directly from Jaipur Airport’s Terminal-1 to the dedicated isolation facility at RUHS Hospital. Although she showed certain symptoms, her condition remained stable, and she did not exhibit severe health complications.
As per established health protocols, samples were sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune for detailed testing. The report confirmed that the woman is Ebola-negative, alleviating fears of the deadly viral disease.
RUHS Superintendent Dr. Anil Gupta emphasized the importance of laboratory testing to confirm Ebola infection and stated that the Rajasthan Health Department continues to monitor international arrivals as part of routine disease surveillance measures.
Airport screening systems and coordination among health agencies have been reinforced to ensure readiness against potential public health threats. While Ebola is a serious disease with a high fatality rate, suspected cases are managed cautiously under international health guidelines.
Concerns over Rajasthan’s first suspected Ebola case have been dispelled with the negative test result, providing relief to health authorities and the public.
