Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has strongly criticized the Madhya Pradesh government for the contaminated water crisis in Indore, calling it a profound shame for the administration. She highlighted the deaths in the Bhagirathpura area due to sewage mixing with drinking water pipelines, leading to a diarrhoea outbreak.
Bharti expressed deep anguish over the situation in Indore, a city known for its cleanliness, now facing poisoned water and numerous deaths. She emphasized that financial aid cannot compensate for the loss of human lives, causing lifelong grief for families affected.
Demanding severe penance and maximum punishment for those responsible, Bharti called for a public apology to victims. She questioned the government’s handling of the crisis and criticized officials for not taking responsibility and resigning despite the lack of control.
Bharti, currently recovering from eye surgery, used social media to address the BJP leadership and Chief Minister Yadav directly. She stressed the need for urgent action in response to the crisis, which has conflicting death toll reports and has affected over 1,400 people, with hundreds hospitalized.
Chief Minister Yadav has visited victims, announced compensation, and initiated investigations with suspensions. The High Court and NHRC are closely monitoring the situation and have requested detailed reports.
