The UN’s chief spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, called on the concerned parties to honor the newly declared ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. Dujarric emphasized the need for peace for the populations of both Lebanon and northern Israel, urging compliance with the ceasefire agreement.
The United Nations supports initiatives that aim to end hostilities and suffering along the Blue Line, the border demarcation between Lebanon and Israel. The organization stands ready to assist in these efforts and advocates for the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701 for a permanent ceasefire and a lasting resolution to the conflict.
US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon following discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun.
