United Nations officials have stated that Israeli restrictions and closures in June led to a reduction in vital aid entering Gaza. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs highlighted that most crossings into Gaza are closed, except for Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem. This limitation has hampered the ability of relief organizations and the private sector to address the significant needs of the people in Gaza.
Despite ongoing efforts to collect essential supplies, the overall volume of aid brought into Gaza last month was significantly lower than in May. Data revealed a decrease of over 4,600 pallets, with only a portion of approved supplies being offloaded at Kerem Shalom. Additionally, concerns persist regarding the safety and well-being of individuals, particularly children, in the West Bank.
The UN expressed worry over recent incidents, including the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old in Qalandiya Camp near Jerusalem by Israeli forces. Furthermore, in Ramallah governorate, a tragic incident occurred where a 4-month-old baby passed away as Israeli forces delayed opening a gate for an ambulance. These events underscore the ongoing challenges faced by vulnerable populations in the region.
