A joint task force comprising Central Food Safety Officers, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) Northern Regional Office, and local police successfully shut down an unauthorized distribution hub in Najafgarh, Delhi. The operation, triggered by a high-priority alert from the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), targeted M/s Gaurav Vats Nutrition, allegedly operated by Gaurav Vats. The establishment was found to be operating without the necessary licenses mandated by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Authorities seized a significant quantity of prohibited substances during the raid. The confiscated items included around 2,800 capsules and tablets, along with 11 injectable units, containing anabolic steroids like Methenolone Enanthate, Trenbolone, and Stanozolol. Additionally, officials found 300 Methandienone tablets, 850 Oxandrolone tablets, 1,500 capsules of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs), and injections of Adenosine Monophosphate. The State Drug Control Department has taken possession of the seized drugs and obtained samples for further legal procedures.
The raid also uncovered severe food safety and public health violations. Health supplements were being sold without a valid food license, with authorities discovering 45 kilograms of expired gainers and whey protein, as well as 85 kilograms of non-expired protein supplements and creatine for further safety evaluation. Regulatory samples have been collected for legal actions. FSSAI has initiated separate proceedings for violations related to food safety standards, improper storage, and the sale of expired products.
FSSAI emphasized the swift response to combat the distribution of substances endangering Indian sports integrity and public health. The agency assured ongoing efforts to safeguard athletes and consumers from unsafe and unauthorized products.
