The United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC) is set to create a Center of Excellence for artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum technologies in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. This initiative was formalized through a letter of intent signed at the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was present during the signing ceremony.

The establishment of this Center of Excellence aims to position Amaravati as a Digital Embassy for secure AI operations, in line with UN standards. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed that this collaboration will enhance Andhra Pradesh’s global standing in AI and quantum readiness by incorporating best practices and fostering international partnerships.

In addition to this development, the Andhra Pradesh government inked seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with various entities at the summit. Among these agreements, partnerships were formed with BharatGen, NexGen, and IBM India to launch a state-wide AI Tech Hub. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that these ventures will empower diverse sections of society, from farmers to fishermen, through a citizen-centric AI approach.

Furthermore, the state government also sealed an MoU with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) to establish its first South India campus in Amaravati. This move is aimed at bolstering Andhra Pradesh’s status as a hub for Quantum and AI education. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu highlighted that this collaboration will focus on enhancing the semiconductor ecosystem in India through skill development initiatives.

The Chief Minister further announced a strategic partnership with IBM to train one lakh young talents in Andhra Pradesh in AI, Cybersecurity, and Quantum Computing. This initiative is designed to equip learners with industry-relevant skills over the next few years, thereby fortifying the state’s technological workforce. Moreover, a collaboration with Calibo, Inc., based in Michigan, was unveiled to support over 50 higher education institutions in Andhra Pradesh with AI-focused educational frameworks and programs.
