Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan revealed plans for a three-day Unnat Krishi Mahotsav in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, starting April 11. The event aims to connect farmers with practical solutions and modern technologies directly. Chouhan emphasized the importance of aligning agricultural strategies with local conditions like climate and soil.
The festival, to be held at the Dussehra Ground in Raisen, will witness the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the inauguration. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is scheduled to attend the closing ceremony on April 13. Over 300 stalls will be set up, featuring participation from national institutions, agri-startups, FPOs, and private companies.
Chouhan highlighted that the agricultural fair will not only involve speeches but also live demonstrations of modern farm machinery and technologies. Farmers will have the opportunity to learn about tools like drones, seeders, sprayers, and techniques such as micro-irrigation and precision farming in a practical manner. Special sessions on various topics like soil health and digital agriculture will be conducted by experts.
The primary goal of the event is to enhance farmers’ incomes by promoting sustainable and climate-resilient farming models. Chouhan mentioned the release of a region-specific agricultural roadmap for districts like Sehore, Vidisha, Raisen, and Dewas, focusing on suitable crops and horticulture options based on local conditions. The event is structured to facilitate farmers in adopting modern practices for improved livelihoods.
