The NEP 2020 is a comprehensive framework aimed at transforming India’s education system, emphasizing Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability, and Accountability. It introduces multidisciplinary learning, vocational integration, and academic flexibility, replacing the previous 1986 policy.
Additionally, Minister Pradhan engaged with Vice-Chancellors of Central Universities to evaluate and strategize the execution of NEP 2020. The discussions aimed to assess the progress of Central universities in aligning with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
Addressing the Vice-Chancellors, Minister Pradhan highlighted the significant transformation in India’s higher education sector over the past decade. He noted a substantial increase in student enrolment, particularly among females, and emphasized the growth in Ph.D. enrolment and female Ph.D. scholars. The government’s initiatives have led to the establishment of over 1,200 universities and 46,000 colleges, positioning India as one of the largest education systems globally.
