Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has embarked on an official visit to France to enhance the strategic partnership between India and France. The visit includes high-level engagements focusing on strengthening economic cooperation, fostering investment, technology collaboration, and innovation. A key event during the visit is the India-France Economic and Financial Dialogue in Aix-en-Provence, which Sitharaman will co-chair with France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Energy Sovereignty, Roland Lescure.
The Economic and Financial Dialogue aims to explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation across various sectors and to further bolster economic relations between the two nations. Additionally, Sitharaman is scheduled to have individual meetings with select global CEOs and participate in a roundtable discussion with prominent business leaders. These interactions are anticipated to highlight India’s robust macroeconomic fundamentals, ongoing structural reforms, expanding investment prospects, and long-term growth potential.
As part of her agenda, Sitharaman will take part in a panel discussion themed “How to Promote the Growth of a New Middle Class” at Les Rencontres Economiques d’Aix-en-Provence, a renowned annual forum in Europe focusing on global economic and public policy matters. The event, organized by Le Cercle des economistes, gathers government officials, central bankers, business executives, economists, academics, and international organization representatives to address critical global economic challenges.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister will visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project at Cadarache, a significant international collaboration on nuclear fusion energy involving over 30 partner countries, including India and France. She is also set to explore Campus Cyber, France’s central hub for cybersecurity innovation, research, and skill development, aiming to exchange best practices and enhance cyber resilience and innovation in the digital economy. Additionally, Sitharaman will meet with Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (PACA) Region, to discuss opportunities for boosting cooperation in investment, innovation, clean energy, technology, and regional economic partnerships.
