Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda praised the economic progress of South Gujarat, highlighting its emergence as a manufacturing center that showcases the state’s economic prowess. Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat, he emphasized the region’s potential for significant economic advancement in the future.
Nadda commended Surat’s diamond and textile industries, as well as the chemical and fertilizer clusters in Bharuch, Dahej, and Ankleshwar, for evolving into global hubs. He mentioned the integration of the garmenting industry with tribal areas, foreseeing new avenues for local community development and overall regional progress.
Acknowledging Gujarat’s economic significance, Nadda noted its substantial contributions to India’s GDP, manufacturing output, merchandise exports, and total cargo handling. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for transforming Gujarat into a globally competitive economic powerhouse, with initiatives like the Vibrant Gujarat summit fostering dialogue and collaboration between industry and government.
Highlighting Gujarat’s resilience in the face of global uncertainties, Nadda cited projects such as the Statue of Unity, GIFT City, and high-speed rail as examples of turning challenges into opportunities. He underscored the pivotal role of these initiatives in propelling India towards development and commended the state government for hosting the successful Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference.
The conference, which took place on May 1 and 2, brought together policymakers, industry stakeholders, and entrepreneurs for discussions spanning various sectors and fostering business interactions. State ministers Jitu Vaghani and Kunvarji Bavaliya, alongside senior officials, industry leaders, and trade body representatives, were also in attendance.
