Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda is set to unveil the operational guidelines for Anaemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) Abhiyaan during the 16th Meeting of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) in New Delhi. The initiative aims to combat anaemia through iron supplementation, deworming, and testing among vulnerable groups like children, adolescents, and women of reproductive age.
This launch signifies a significant step in India’s fight against anaemia, transitioning the program to a more comprehensive and technology-driven approach. It will extend beyond iron supplementation to include testing, therapeutic management, dietary guidance, digital monitoring, and community involvement through Jan Chetna.
The release of the Operational Guidelines at the CCHFW Meeting underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing nutrition, maternal, and child health. By establishing a digital ecosystem for monitoring anaemia services, the guidelines will ensure effective tracking and analysis across beneficiary groups.
The Anaemia Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan will introduce a new strategy known as the T4 approach, emphasizing testing, treatment, tracking, and targeted counselling. This shift aims to intensify haemoglobin testing, treat iron deficiency anaemia, track beneficiaries for follow-up, and promote healthy dietary habits.
