Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava is set to inaugurate a nationwide ‘Fire Safety Week’ on Monday in collaboration with all states/Union Territories and Central Ministries. The initiative aims to enhance awareness about fire hazard prevention through a series of activities to be held from May 4 to 10. As part of the launch, a pledge on ‘Fire Safety in Health Facilities’ will be administered to emphasize the importance of adhering to fire safety norms and strengthening preparedness in healthcare institutions.
During the week-long event, various states and UTs will engage in activities such as awareness campaigns, mock drills, and capacity-building efforts. The dissemination of fire safety protocols will be a key focus, targeting healthcare personnel and administrators to educate them on fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation procedures. This initiative underscores the Health Ministry’s ongoing dedication to ensuring the safety of patients, healthcare workers, and critical infrastructure within the healthcare system.
In a separate development, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare recently unveiled the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) 2.0 Guidelines at a national summit. These guidelines represent a significant enhancement of India’s child health screening program, expanding its scope to address evolving child health needs. By incorporating new-age health challenges like non-communicable diseases and mental health conditions, the updated framework builds upon the existing 4Ds approach while addressing developmental delays and deficiencies.
