Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi focused on Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting discussed counterterrorism efforts and emphasized dismantling the entire terror network. Shah acknowledged the progress in disrupting the terror ecosystem in the region and highlighted the commitment to establishing lasting peace as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The review meeting concentrated on eliminating terrorists in the mountainous areas of Jammu and Kashmir and preventing infiltration along the Line of Control and the International Border. This session marked the first security review meeting chaired by Shah in 2026. The Home Minister emphasized the importance of eradicating the support system for terrorism through coordinated actions against terrorists, their associates, and sources of funding.
During the meeting, Shah praised the security forces and stressed the need for seamless coordination among the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and the Central Armed Police Forces engaged in counterterrorism operations. Key officials from the region, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atul Dulloo, and DGP Nalin Prabhat, participated in the meeting. The discussion also touched upon recent joint operations against terrorists of Pakistani origin supported by Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence.
Shah expressed optimism that 2026 would witness the eradication of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the residents’ desire for peace, dignity, and improved opportunities for their children. The meeting underscored the significant progress in security management on the ground and emphasized the collective efforts needed to achieve long-term peace and stability in the region.
