Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the government’s significant impact on 70 crore impoverished individuals in the last 12 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Shah, speaking in Gandhinagar, mentioned the provision of essential amenities like housing, electricity, sanitation, water, gas, food security, and healthcare as part of the country’s most extensive poverty alleviation initiative. He stressed that enhancing the living standards of the underprivileged has been a key focus since 2014.
Recalling his visits to impoverished areas in eastern Uttar Pradesh, Shah vividly described the dire conditions he witnessed before 2014. He highlighted the lack of basic necessities such as homes, electricity, toilets, and healthcare facilities in those regions. Shah pointed out the struggles faced by women who spent hours cooking on traditional stoves and the limited access to medical care for many families.
Shah lauded the government’s efforts in addressing these challenges through various welfare schemes. He mentioned that within 12 years, 70 crore impoverished individuals have been provided with essential facilities like housing, electricity, water supply, toilets, gas cylinders, food grains, and free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Shah also noted the completion of 3 crore houses with 1 crore more under construction, emphasizing the transformative impact on beneficiaries’ lives.
Highlighting the significance of the PM Family Care Tracker initiative, Shah outlined its role in ensuring timely healthcare, nutrition, and education services for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This integrated monitoring system aims to enhance the overall well-being of children from poor families, reflecting the government’s commitment to holistic welfare delivery.
