Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the reforms implemented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government, highlighting the elimination of leakages in welfare distribution through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Shah emphasized that under the current system, every rupee allocated by the Centre directly reaches the intended beneficiaries. Speaking at an event in Gandhinagar, Shah contrasted the improved scenario with a past instance where a former Prime Minister acknowledged significant leakages in welfare funds.
The Home Minister commended the impact of DBT in revolutionizing the delivery of government aid, ensuring that funds are transferred directly into the bank accounts of the needy. Shah emphasized that this approach has ushered in a new era of welfare for the underprivileged by bypassing intermediaries. He shared his firsthand observations of poverty in eastern Uttar Pradesh before the government’s intervention, underscoring the dire living conditions faced by many families in the region.
According to Shah, the DBT framework has significantly enhanced the welfare landscape by guaranteeing that benefits are directly credited to recipients without any losses. He stressed the importance of this streamlined process in ensuring that the full amount allocated from Delhi reaches the beneficiaries’ bank accounts. The launch of the PM Family Care Tracker (PM-FCT) pilot project and Health Passports aims to further enhance the monitoring and delivery of essential services for mothers and children through a digital platform that consolidates various welfare databases.
