Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the ‘Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-2029’ and emphasized a tech-driven, ‘ruthless approach’ against drug traffickers during the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD in New Delhi. Shah stressed the importance of intelligence-led responses and technology-driven strategies to combat drug trafficking effectively.
He urged officials to adopt a network-centric strategy and approach the issue with a ‘ruthless’ mindset to achieve victory. Shah highlighted the need for compassion towards youth struggling with drug addiction while intensifying efforts to create a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ in the next year. He also released the NCB Annual Report 2025 and inaugurated new NCB zonal offices in Jammu and Guwahati.
Furthermore, Shah launched the ‘Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign’ and commended the destruction of seized drugs worth Rs 12,525 crore in a single day. The meeting, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), aimed to strengthen efforts in combating drug trafficking and abuse nationwide. The ‘Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-2029’ serves as a roadmap for coordinated measures focusing on demand reduction, supply reduction, and rehabilitation.
The Vision Document addresses challenges such as synthetic drugs and darknet-based trafficking, emphasizing awareness campaigns, treatment facilities, and rehabilitation services for substance abuse victims.
