Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling infiltration and identifying illegal individuals for deportation. He pledged to prevent any artificial demographic changes and announced plans to enhance border security in Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal. Shah labeled demographic alteration attempts as conspiracies and stressed the need for cooperation to combat infiltration effectively.
He called upon the Border Security Force (BSF) to not only secure borders but also collaborate with local authorities to detect infiltrators and smuggling activities. Shah highlighted the importance of eradicating infiltration, drawing parallels with the successful fight against Maoism. He underscored the necessity of addressing security challenges at their roots and praised the BSF’s dedication and patriotism in safeguarding the borders.
Shah revealed the government’s decision to extend the BSF’s jurisdiction to 50 km from the border to enhance surveillance and enforcement capabilities. He also mentioned West Bengal’s support in providing land for border fencing. Additionally, he announced an upcoming meeting with the Chief Ministers of border states to bolster anti-infiltration efforts. The event included the BSF Investiture Ceremony, honoring 43 personnel for their service and dedication.
