Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the third International Kite Festival organized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) at Baansera grasslands on Yamuna floodplains near Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi. The event, scheduled for three days, will also have Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena as the Guest of Honour and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in attendance.
According to DDA Vice-Chairman N. Saravana Kumar, the inauguration ceremony will be held at Birsa Munda Chowk in Baansera around noon on Friday. The DDA had earlier welcomed citizens to visit the rejuvenated grasslands on Yamuna floodplains at Baansera near Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi back in August 2024.
In a recent social media post, L-G Saxena praised the efforts of DDA officials, showcasing a video highlighting the transformation of the area from degradation to a green oasis at Baansera. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to restore 2.6 crore hectares of degraded land by 2030, the L-G emphasized the significant progress made in Delhi, particularly at Baansera, within a span of 18 months.
