In a move to enhance Delhi’s administrative efficiency and citizen-centric approach, the Union Home Ministry has synchronized the names of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) zones with the new district nomenclature of the Delhi government. The Central Government’s amendment to the Fourteenth Schedule of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957 formalizes this change, as per an official statement.

Through a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the revised Fourteenth Schedule now includes updated information on MCD wards and their corresponding zones. This comprehensive list covers all 250 MCD wards, each mapped to its respective zone for clarity and coordination.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the significance of this decision in streamlining Delhi’s administrative structure and enhancing accessibility for citizens. The alignment between the Delhi revenue administration and the Municipal Corporation, facilitated by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ amendment, is seen as a step towards better coordination and governance.

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development and trust, the government aims to simplify governance, enhance transparency, and boost efficiency. The unified nomenclature for administrative areas is expected to foster inter-departmental coordination, improve the implementation of government initiatives, and make public services more accessible to Delhi residents.
