Union Home Secretary, Govind Mohan, met with J&K Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, to discuss security, anti-terror operations, and operational readiness. A high-level security review meeting, chaired by the Home Secretary, was held at the Convention Centre on Canal Road in Jammu. Attendees included top officials like the Intelligence Bureau Director, BSF Director General, CRPF chief, Jammu and Kashmir DGP, and other senior officers from military, police, civil, and intelligence sectors.
Security forces are actively conducting anti-terror operations, particularly in high-altitude regions and forest areas across Jammu. It is reported that around three dozen terrorists, including Pakistani nationals, have been hiding in the region for over two years after infiltrating. There has been an increase in drone activities along the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC), with intelligence indicating the presence of terrorists waiting to infiltrate during foggy conditions.
The meeting focused on reviewing operational security in hilly terrains, the overall security scenario, and the progress of ongoing anti-terror operations and drone intrusions along the borders. Discussions also encompassed border security management, security reinforcement in Jammu’s hilly areas, and inter-agency cooperation.
Earlier, Govind Mohan and the Lt. Governor had a comprehensive discussion at Lok Bhawan, addressing various security, operational, and developmental issues in J&K. The meeting delved into the current security status in Kashmir and Jammu, ongoing anti-terror efforts in both regions, and the operational readiness of the joint security grid. Emphasis was placed on enhancing security measures in Jammu’s hilly regions in light of recent activities.
The Union Home Secretary’s visit follows directives from Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, urging security forces to sustain operations targeting terrorist infrastructure, their overground workers, and terror financing with a mission-oriented approach. Concluding his 2-day visit to J&K, the Home Secretary is set to return to New Delhi today.
