Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is set to lead a high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir via video conferencing. The meeting will focus on assessing the security and financial status of the J&K Police for the current fiscal year and the upcoming years. Attendees will include J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, senior police officers, and the two Inspector Generals of Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
The meeting, scheduled to commence at 2.30 pm, will mark the first comprehensive security review by the Union Home Secretary following the recent elimination of four top terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammed group in Kishtwar district. Discussions will revolve around enhancing anti-terror operations in the mountainous and forested regions of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly targeting suspected foreign terrorists.
As the summer approaches, security measures will be heightened with a focus on intensifying anti-terror activities. Security agencies are urged to escalate efforts against terrorists hiding in the region. Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel, alongside the Army and paramilitary forces, have been deployed in strategic locations to combat terrorism effectively.
Efforts are underway to dismantle the overground network supporting terrorists, a critical aspect highlighted for discussion during the meeting. The financial evaluation of Jammu and Kashmir, including the current year’s budget expenditure and future police requirements, will also be key agenda items. The JKP’s modernization and ongoing efforts to enhance its capabilities will be addressed, along with a review of previous meetings led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
