Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, accusing it of supporting Naxalites and expanding the Red Corridor during its rule. He highlighted the government’s success under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in reducing Naxalite influence from 126 districts to fewer than two.
Thakur emphasized the government’s efforts in neutralizing Naxalites, with many surrendering due to the amnesty offer. He honored the security personnel and civilians who lost their lives in the fight against Naxalism, pointing out the lack of cooperation from the previous Congress government in Chhattisgarh.
The Minister traced the issue back to the Congress era, stating the Modi government’s determination to eradicate Naxalism. He mentioned the government’s focus on security and development, including initiatives like building schools, expanding mobile connectivity, and infrastructure projects in tribal regions.
Thakur rejected claims of discrimination, asserting that the government has worked towards uplifting 25 crore poor citizens without bias. His remarks during the Lok Sabha discussion highlighted the government’s success in tackling Naxalism through a combination of military action and development strategies.
