Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee stated that his party is willing to pull candidates from all 291 Assembly seats in West Bengal if the BJP can substantiate that funds were disbursed to the state’s people under the PM Awas Yojana. Speaking at a public gathering in Jhalda, Purulia district, Banerjee emphasized that this decision is not impulsive but based on specific conditions. He accused the ruling party at the Centre of long-term financial neglect towards West Bengal.
Banerjee challenged local BJP MP Jyotirmay Singh Mahato to demonstrate any contribution made by PM Modi’s government to the housing scheme for the poor in the last five years. He highlighted the Trinamool Congress’s concerns about the absence of Central allocations for rural development and social welfare programs. Banerjee aimed to underscore the BJP’s alleged financial deprivation of West Bengal through his remarks.
The Trinamool Congress leader criticized the BJP for allegedly failing to fulfill the financial entitlements of the people of West Bengal despite securing their votes. He urged voters not to support the BJP in the upcoming election, citing stalled Central allocations across various sectors, including housing schemes and MGNREGA’s ‘100 days’ work. Banerjee called for a strong response to what he described as the BJP’s deprivation of people’s rights.
Banerjee questioned the BJP’s achievements in West Bengal over the past five years, claiming that the Central government has not made any significant contributions but has exacerbated the hardships of the common people by subjecting them to prolonged queues.
