Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has revealed that the upcoming Amber and Ascent Electronics manufacturing plants will revolutionize India’s electronics sector. These facilities will focus on producing advanced Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), aiming to bolster the country’s electronics industry and enhance its global competitiveness. Vaishnaw emphasized that each PCB manufactured at these plants will contribute to saving foreign exchange, strengthening the rupee, and improving India’s balance of payments.
The minister’s announcement came during the joint foundation stone-laying ceremony for the projects in Yamuna City, Jewar, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The initiatives include a cutting-edge printed circuit board manufacturing unit worth Rs 3,250 crore established by ASCENT-K Circuit, a collaboration with South Korea’s KCC. This facility will specialize in producing high-density and multi-layer PCBs for various electronic applications.
Additionally, Amber Enterprises is set to invest Rs 3,500 crore in setting up a manufacturing plant dedicated to HVAC components and PCB assemblies. Vaishnaw had previously highlighted that India presently imports PCBs amounting to nearly Rs 40,000 crore annually. By ramping up domestic production capabilities, the country aims to reduce its reliance on imports significantly.
Furthermore, the minister underscored the rapid development of infrastructure in the Jewar region, citing the operational Noida International Airport, enhanced connectivity through the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), and the proposed Delhi-Lucknow-Varanasi bullet train project. These developments are positioning the area as an appealing destination for global investors. Vaishnaw emphasized that the evolving industrial ecosystem, backed by modern infrastructure and substantial manufacturing investments, will elevate India as a key electronics manufacturing hub, fostering local production capacities and employment opportunities.
