Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu stated that the Central government has pledged permanent jobs for the families of the deceased in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant accident. Additionally, education for the children of the victims and residences within the plant premises will be provided. The tragic incident resulted from a leak of molten steel due to an explosion of a ladle carrying steel at high temperatures.
The molten iron involved in the accident was reported to be at a scorching 1,500 degrees Celsius. Rammohan Naidu, along with Union Steel Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, visited the site to assess the situation following the unfortunate event. The Minister expressed the challenges in evaluating the site, noting that such a tragedy was unprecedented in the country’s steel plants.
An investigation committee, appointed by the Ministry of Steel, will delve into the circumstances and causes of the incident. Rammohan Naidu conveyed condolences to the victims and their families, emphasizing the government’s commitment to provide 25 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased. Adequate medical care is being ensured for the injured individuals.
In addition to financial aid, the Union government proposed permanent employment opportunities within the steel plant for the families of the deceased. The children’s education will also be supported by the plant, and residences within the plant premises will be arranged. Despite the challenging circumstances, efforts are being made to assist the affected families, assured Union Minister Rammohan Naidu.
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation falling under the Ministry of Steel, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has engaged with Union Minister Kumaraswamy for a thorough investigation and support for the affected families. The commitment to prioritize worker safety at the Visakhapatnam steel plant has been reiterated by the Union government.
