Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, criticized former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for allegedly betraying the people regarding Krishna river waters. He stated that while Telangana is entitled to 571 TMC of Krishna water, KCR only agreed to 299 TMC. Bandi Sanjay made these remarks during a press conference in Karimnagar, where he accused Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of using river water issues to divert attention from their failures.
Bandi Sanjay further claimed that both Congress and BRS had let down Telangana on irrigation matters, with Congress failing to utilize the state’s share of river waters. He accused KCR of repeatedly betraying the people of Telangana and highlighted that the state’s allocation of Krishna waters was not fully utilized during the previous BRS government’s tenure. The BJP leader emphasized that despite the pressing need for water in Telangana, the rightful share was not utilized, pointing out the discrepancy between the entitled 571 TMC and the agreed 299 TMC.
The Minister accused the BRS of corruption in the irrigation sector, specifically mentioning the Kaleshwaram project, which he alleged was marred by malpractice. He criticized the BRS government’s handling of the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation project, accusing them of inflating estimates for canal and lift construction. Bandi Sanjay referenced the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014, highlighting that the Palamuru-Rangareddy project was not exempted from objections despite the Act’s provisions.
Bandi Sanjay further pointed out the inaction regarding Andhra Pradesh’s diversion of water through the Pothireddypadu project, criticizing the lack of response from the BRS. He mentioned KCR’s daughter, K. Kavitha, for exposing corruption during the previous BRS government’s tenure and expressed the BJP’s support for those revealing corruption in Telangana.
