Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia criticized the extravagant treatment given to BSNL Director Vivek Bansal, deeming it inappropriate and a breach of regulations. Scindia expressed dismay over the incident, emphasizing that such behavior is intolerable. A show cause notice has been issued to the Director in response to the controversy.
Scindia clarified that any form of “royal treatment” for officials is unacceptable in modern times. He asserted that those responsible for the misconduct will face consequences. An official order revealed that around 50 staff members were involved in managing various tasks for Bansal’s visit to Prayagraj, including boat rides, temple visits, and other arrangements.
The detailed plan, which circulated widely on social media, sparked criticism for its extensive nature and the use of public resources for what seemed like a personal trip. Following the backlash, Bansal’s visit was called off. BSNL, facing significant financial losses, has not officially addressed the planning process behind the elaborate arrangements.
