Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi strongly criticized Karnataka Congress President B.K. Hariprasad for his recent controversial remarks linking Gandhi, Godse, and cows. Joshi accused Hariprasad of engaging in divisive politics to please the Congress high command, labeling his statements as politically motivated and harmful to communal harmony.
In response to Hariprasad’s speech in Mysuru, where he made contentious remarks about cow slaughter and political leadership, Joshi condemned the Congress for neglecting public welfare in favor of divisive strategies. He highlighted the Congress leadership’s focus on political gains rather than governance and development, criticizing their approach as detrimental to societal unity.
Joshi emphasized the democratic election process that appoints Prime Ministers and Chief Ministers, cautioning against disrespectful comparisons to holders of these esteemed offices. He criticized the Congress for allegedly prioritizing political expediency over Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence, accusing the party of resorting to inflammatory tactics for electoral advantages.
The Minister called out the Congress for historical failures like the Emergency era, accusing the party of deflecting attention from its shortcomings through provocative statements. Joshi urged Hariprasad and the Congress leadership to uphold respect for constitutional institutions and public offices before moralizing to others, warning that such irresponsible rhetoric threatens social harmony and stems from political desperation.
Expressing confidence in the electorate’s discernment, Joshi predicted a strong response from the people of Karnataka against what he termed as the Congress government’s divisive and irresponsible politics.
