Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal criticized the Opposition for obstructing the passage of the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill in the Lok Sabha. The Bill aimed to increase the Lok Sabha’s seats to 850 and implement 33% reservation for women in Parliament and state Assemblies.
Meghwal expressed disappointment over the Opposition’s actions, stating that their opposition was driven by political motives, particularly concerns about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rising popularity. He emphasized that passing the Women’s Bill would have provided better representation for women in legislative bodies.
The Minister accused the Opposition of neglecting women’s rights and suggested that their actions would not go unnoticed by voters, including women. He also criticized Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of disrespecting the armed forces during a recent parliamentary discussion.
