Amid the controversy surrounding Galgotias University’s display of a Chinese robotic dog at the India AI Impact Summit, Union Minister Chirag Paswan labeled the incident a “major lapse.” Paswan expressed disapproval of the university showcasing the product and falsely claiming ownership, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
Paswan highlighted his concerns about the university representative’s handling of the situation, suggesting that her explanations seemed calculated. He emphasized the negative impact such incidents could have on India’s reputation on a global scale, especially during an AI Summit that garners international attention.
The Minister stressed the need for appropriate action post the summit, indicating that the government would decide on the matter after the event concludes. He underscored the importance of presenting genuine work at such platforms to avoid spreading misinformation and damaging India’s image worldwide.
Shiv Sena-UBT MPs, including Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai, also criticized the organizers and called for strict measures, including penalties, against the university. The MPs viewed the incident not only as a national embarrassment but also as a cause for international ridicule, reflecting the seriousness of the controversy.
