Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal, highlighted the importance of eco-friendly and sustainable construction practices, modern technologies, and digital transformation at the Central Public Works Department’s (CPWD) 172nd Annual Day celebration in New Delhi. He praised CPWD’s role in nation-building and stressed the significance of transparency, efficiency, and timely project completion. Lal also advocated for online transfer systems, institutional reforms, and readiness to tackle future infrastructure challenges.
Srinivas Katikithala, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary, urged CPWD to adopt a broader national perspective in public infrastructure development. He emphasized the need for CPWD to enhance its role as the government’s premier technical organization and proposed establishing a National Council for Public Works to promote excellence, innovation, and collaboration in the sector. This council would facilitate partnerships among government agencies, academic institutions, and industry bodies.
During the event, the Union Minister introduced the SANKALP mantra, emphasizing Speed, Accessibility, Nekneeyat, Kartavyanishtha, Adoption of technology, Lokhit, and Pardarshita to guide CPWD’s transformation into a future-ready organization. Awards were presented to outstanding officers, officials, and project teams for their exceptional performance and dedication. Recognitions were also given for the Best Completed Projects and certificates awarded to participants of capacity-building programs.
As part of the celebrations, CPWD honored individuals who completed capacity-building programs with certificates from academic and professional institutions. The Minister unveiled the Department’s publications and digital initiatives, including Technical Publications, Nirman Bharati, and e-NIRMIT ERP Modules, showcasing CPWD’s commitment to digitalization, transparency, and efficient project management.
