Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, highlighted the significance of the National Sports Federation Conclave 2026 in aligning India’s readiness for major global sporting events in the coming years. The conclave convened representatives from 37 National Sports Federations, including the Indian Olympic Association, to strategize for events like the 2026 Commonwealth Games, 2026 Asian Games, and the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Mandaviya, addressing the attendees, described the conclave as a pivotal move towards India’s groundwork for upcoming international sports competitions. He outlined the government’s vision to position India as a prominent sporting nation through structured training systems, athlete development, enhanced infrastructure, and continuous support for elite athletes.
Underlining the necessity for institutional reforms and enhanced collaboration among stakeholders, Mandaviya stressed the importance of cohesive efforts among athletes, federations, and governments for India’s sporting future. He emphasized the paramountcy of athlete welfare in all administrative decisions and urged federations to ensure transparency, accountability, and timely elections while strengthening governance systems.
