Union Minister Pralhad Joshi highlighted the significance of quality as a competitive advantage during the 79th Foundation Day celebrations of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). He emphasized that standards are essential for excellence, consumer protection, ease of doing business, Make in India, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Joshi reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on quality across governance, service delivery, and manufacturing, aiming to elevate ‘Made in India’ to a symbol of high quality and global trust.

At the event, Joshi underlined that robust quality systems safeguard consumers, enhance governance, and support businesses by streamlining processes and enhancing reliability. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the vision of “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” aiming to produce top-quality goods with minimal environmental impact. Joshi stressed the collective effort needed from policymakers, industry players, standards bodies, and manufacturers to achieve this goal and transition ‘Made in India’ into a globally trusted brand.

The minister also emphasized BIS’s pivotal role in strengthening standards, fostering innovation, and instilling confidence in Indian products in international markets.
