Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated a cutting-edge Makers Lab at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) in Jaipur. He urged students to focus on developing indigenous chip designs, highlighting India’s ambitions in the semiconductor sector. Vaishnaw emphasized innovation, technology, and startup-driven growth as crucial elements for India’s future.
He also revealed plans to establish advanced laboratories at MNIT focusing on semiconductor technology, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence (AI). Addressing students, the Minister discussed India’s rapid technological progress under the Digital India initiative and emphasized the increasing job opportunities in high-tech fields.
Vaishnaw engaged with students in an interactive quiz session, testing their knowledge on nano-SIM and semiconductor technologies. He noted the milestone of nano-SIM manufacturing in India, a step towards technological self-reliance. Encouraging students to explore cutting-edge technologies, he highlighted the vast career prospects in the global semiconductor industry.
The Minister announced the enhancement of MNIT Jaipur’s semiconductor infrastructure, including simulation systems for hands-on training in chip design and fabrication. Students will have access to modern semiconductor design tools used in the industry, aiming to provide world-class training opportunities in rapidly growing scientific and technological fields. Vaishnaw also mentioned the government’s efforts to bolster semiconductor education across various colleges nationwide.
