Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary faced a death threat via a phone call, leading to immediate action by the Delhi Police. The threat, originating from an unknown number, prompted the minister’s office to file a formal complaint and increase security measures.
The minister’s Private Assistant, Vishvendra Shah, disclosed that the threat came through phone calls and WhatsApp messages, with the caller claiming to be from Murshidabad, West Bengal. Investigations revealed the call’s origin in the Murshidabad region, with the West Bengal Police also involved in the probe.
Shah recounted that the threatening call was received as the minister was en route to Parliament, with the caller explicitly threatening to shoot him. Additionally, a WhatsApp message containing the minister’s official tour schedule and a violent threat heightened concerns.
The sensitive nature of the leaked tour schedule, which usually remains confidential and shared only with authorized officials, raised alarms. The incident prompted a joint investigation by Delhi Police and West Bengal authorities to track down the suspect, identified as Israil, linked to the threatening communication.
Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, currently serving as Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and a member of the Rajya Sabha, has been assured of a thorough examination of the case. Authorities have pledged stringent action against those found responsible for the threat.
