Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, met with Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Minister, Zheenbek Kulubaev, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Cholpon Ata. They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation and reviewed the progress in the India-Kyrgyzstan partnership.
Singh expressed satisfaction with the partnership’s advancement and discussed avenues to further strengthen cooperation across various sectors. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the India–Kyrgyz Republic Strategic Partnership during the meeting in Kyrgyzstan.
Singh, who arrived in Bishkek for the SCO foreign ministers meeting, emphasized the importance of productive discussions on regional and global issues within the SCO framework. The ministers at the meeting in Cholpon-Ata will assess the progress in key areas of SCO cooperation and address regional and international matters of significance.
The SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting, held in preparation for the upcoming SCO Leadership Summit in Bishkek, aims to finalize decisions and documents for adoption by the Heads of State. The Foreign Ministers will exchange views on regional and international issues, with a focus on enhancing cooperation within the SCO framework.
Singh is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with counterparts from other SCO Member States during the event. Kyrgyzstan, as the current SCO chair for 2025-2026, has themed its presidency as ’25 Years of the SCO: Together Towards Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity.’
