Union Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia, along with Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, unveiled the ‘Mission Queen Pineapple, Tripura’ with an investment of Rs 236 crore. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to elevate Tripura’s agricultural strengths into globally competitive brands. The mission aims to empower farmers to actively engage in the entire value chain, from production to exports.
The three-year mission, spanning from the second quarter of FY2026 to the fourth quarter of FY2028, focuses on promoting Tripura’s Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged Queen Pineapple. It involves collaboration among various ministries and agencies, including Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Food Processing Industries, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The goal is to establish a comprehensive pineapple value-chain ecosystem in Tripura.
The initiative emphasizes enhancing market integration and infrastructure to ensure farmers receive fair prices for their produce. It includes setting up a central Hub near Agartala airport and eight spoke collection centers across key pineapple-growing clusters. Infrastructure components such as grading facilities, cold storage, and digital traceability systems will be established to support the pineapple sector’s growth.
