Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of seven workers in a stone quarry boulder collapse in Bengaluru South taluk. The incident at the Kaveri Crusher unit in Madapatna village resulted in fatalities of migrant laborers from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and North Karnataka, with several others injured and more feared trapped.
Kumaraswamy urged the Karnataka government to promptly offer relief to the affected families and enforce strict safety measures at quarries. He emphasized the need for immediate compensation and emergency assistance for the bereaved families, stressing the importance of stringent safety regulations at all quarries to prevent such tragedies.
Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara also expressed deep sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the responsibility of quarry owners to ensure worker safety. As the search for bodies and trapped individuals continues, senior BJP leader R. Ashoka will visit the hospital to check on the injured workers.
