Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is set to address the India Global Forum and engage in government-to-business activities during his official visit to the United Kingdom from June 25-27. This visit precedes the upcoming implementation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between India and the UK, scheduled for next month.
Goyal will meet with UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle to discuss the preparations for implementing CETA and the Double Contribution Convention (DCC). The focus will be on enhancing the economic partnership between the two nations through regulatory coordination and customs facilitation.
Discussions during the visit will center on the operational aspects of CETA and DCC, including regulatory mechanisms and tariff liberalization commitments. These agreements are expected to offer enhanced market access for Indian exporters in the UK. Additionally, both sides will review the implementation roadmap for the DCC to address social security contributions for temporary workers.
As part of the visit, Goyal will engage in government-to-business interactions with industry leaders, investors, and corporate representatives from India and the UK. He will deliver a keynote address at the India Global Forum, highlighting business and investment opportunities arising from the India-UK trade agreement.
Furthermore, Goyal will hold meetings with executives from prominent global companies like HSBC Global Trade Solutions and Rolls-Royce to explore strategic investments and manufacturing partnerships in India. The Minister will also participate in a business plenary session and luncheon hosted by the UK-India Business Council, focusing on trade, investment, and business prospects under the evolving India-UK economic partnership.
