Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, stating that India’s railway network, under Modi’s vision, has transformed into the nation’s lifeline. Shekhawat highlighted the significant rail infrastructure projects in Marwar and western Rajasthan, aligning with Modi’s goal of a digital and modern India. He emphasized the shift in mindset towards Indian Railways over the past 12 years under Modi’s leadership, bringing it on par with global standards.
Shekhawat credited Prime Minister Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for introducing trains like the Vande Bharat Express in Jodhpur, matching international quality and standards. He lauded initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Surakshit Bharat,’ particularly praising the success of the indigenous railway safety system ‘Kavach’ in enhancing passenger safety. Shekhawat also highlighted the expansion of the Vande Bharat train and the redevelopment of Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway Station to improve connectivity and facilities.
The Union Minister announced the development of Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway Station into a modern mega terminus, facilitating direct connectivity from Jodhpur to major south Indian cities. He mentioned the establishment of maintenance facilities for next-generation trains in Jodhpur and the inclusion of the city among key railway hubs. Shekhawat emphasized the government’s focus on the development of Jaisalmer and Pokhran, enhancing tourism and strategic significance, and improving rail connectivity for residents and tourists.
